We need to start designing the manuscript with selected grid systems. We will be using dummy text through out the design to lay out the pages. Along with that we will also start writing out what will replaces the dummy text.

We both will do our two variations of the catalog structure, including grid, dummy text, titles, etc. When we get to class we'll look at them and see if we can combine the styles, or just choose one direction.

Delivery

after you have determined categories, and how the collection will be visually presented, determine two additional delivery methods that will complement the catalogue you design

For our additional deliverables besides the catalog, we will be presenting a series of posters, that will serve as an advertisement for our museum. These will be 24x36 and represent the glasses collection. Our second deliverable will be something that the audience can purchase from the museum. We were thinking that our collector (the rockstar) will have a 'signature' pair of sunglasses, and these would be sold at the museum. We will be designing the packaging for it.

Museum Experience

The sunglass collection is housed by the collector Tyson Grand. The museum has two parts, interactive and display. The interactive part would allow the user to try on the glasses as Tyson would wear them. The sunglasses that he collects are stored in his various cars that he owns. Each weekend he cycles through pairs. This allows visitors to stop by and try on unique and common glasses owned by Tyson Grand. Along with this, they can enjoy the fine craftsmanship of his various exotics while gazing into the rear view mirrors.

The display part would feature all the other glasses such as prescription, sporting glasses, various fashion glasses, and all high value glasses. The rockstar owns all types of glasses even though he doesn't wear all of them. This includes grandma glasses, old man glasses, hipster glasses, children glasses, etc. He organizes the collection based on personality of the glasses and who would wear them. These would displayed in glass cases along the path of a red carpet. Of course there would be a lot of lights and background noise of a crowd. Drinks would be offered to the guests.

Overall our museum would leave viewers with a sense of the glamour lifestyle. We also want our viewer to leave with a greater knowledge of trends and types of glasses. We want them to have fun and see all the different and funny types of glasses, and see how the glasses can really say something about the person who would wear them. The experience would be a fun one and one someone could take away feeling good about and recommend to others. We would also give the user a collection catalog which would feature many of the glasses and see how the collector used them.

Group Recap #3

What is going well?

At this point in time our presentation is about completed for next class. We have spoke more about the direction we want to take with our photos and sorted them out more for what time of imagery we want with the sets. Also we thought of some more categories.

What are the obstacles?

We still need to go deeper into our concept and think how to creatively show more robust categories. Getting a vast majority of stories could be a small issue.

What needs to be done to overcome obstacles?

Some more brainstorming and actually start designing so we can get a feel for what needs to be shown more or talked about.

Group Recap #2

What is going well?

The direction that our project is going is mutual. There hasn't been any real disagreements yet besides the Vlevel-ness of my partner, having a girl partner, it is only expected even though it is dreaded. We have a wide range of photographs to select from for our advertisements. We also have some good starts on story ideas for each image.

What are the obstacles?

Getting great quality photographs. There might be a little bit of an obstacle with the stories and finding interesting ones.

What needs to be done to overcome obstacles?

We need to ask a lot of people about their personal glasses stories. Also a sufficient amount of studio time will be needed possibly.

What happens next?

Arrange our photos into sections and figure out how to categorize and present them.

Who will do what?

We will both start to organize the selected photos into categories. We will also both start asking and brainstorming about stories.

Recap of Group Talk

When we sat down with another group, some of the things they mentioned that were good about our project was that it allowed a large range of subjects. Our collection could be huge and encompass a range of styles and categories. They also thought that it was a good idea to connect the glasses to the wearers and it was interesting to see glasses as personality. They thought it would be interesting to see differences in face shapes and the reasons why the wearer chose the glasses.

The found it concerning that the project could be potentially boring. We would really have to find a wide range of glasses to really say alot about our subject.

Our next step is to start photographing people and their glasses!
